The Thinking Body-The Feeling Mind®
The Thinking Body-The Feeling Mind® (created by Linda Lack PhD) Is a healing movement technique that incorporates Hatha Yoga, universal principles of alignment, and circular, intuitive moving sequences. The focus is on integrated movement and educating bodies. It is a wonderful tool that can help reduce pain or minimize movement limitations. The intent is to meet the student where they are in their development and help them to realize their full movement potential in a respectful, non-injurious way. Hatha Yoga Blend
This class blends a variety of yoga styles, from yoga therapy to vinyasa flow, creating a mindful movement meditation designed to open the flow of energy in the body. The fluid sequencing and asana (pose) instruction helps to expand the capacity of the breath, increase range of motion, and build strength effectively. The aim is for students to develop a keen sense of body awareness and leave class feeling invigorated, energized, balanced, clear, and calm. All levels welcome. (Classes begin Saturday, Feb 4 at 10 AM)
Bellydance
This fun class is for beginners who want to learn the basic theory and basic technique of the movements in Bellydance. You will learn how to move and isolate the different parts of your body (head, shoulders, arms, hips, etc.) making contact with yourself, your strength and your feminine beauty. (Classes begin Saturday, Feb 4. at 4 PM)
Hatha Yoga
The Hatha Yoga taught at this studio is a gentle yet thorough approach deeply influenced by the therapeutic teachings of Krishnamacharya. The classes emphasize moving with the rhythm of the breath, increasing the benefits of traditional poses and stretches. It allows the student to safely connect with their body as they gradually develop a deeper sense of awareness. (These classes currently on hiatus)
Group Yoga Classes
Regular group classes are designed to maximize energy, health, and well-being. They can provide physical and emotional centering, cellular optimism, life endurance and postural alignment. Emphasis is placed on the needs of the individual. Classes are taught in a safe, noncompetitive, inclusive environment, where beginners are welcome. See schedules and fees.
Challenging group classes (classes marked with an asterisk). These classes will involve more complex sequencing. They may not be appropriate for those new to The Thinking Body- The Feeling Mind® or those with knee, hip or back issues. Please speak with Molly before considering this class. See schedules and fees.
Meditation Classes
Jess Lewis-Peltier leads Semi-guided meditation combining restorative poses & breath work (pranayama) to cultivate inner calm, a nourished spirit, and space in the body for healing. Great for beginners and appropriate for all levels. There will be some gentle movement so wear something comfy. (These classes currently on hiatus)
Private Yoga Sessions
Group classes may not be appropriate for every individual. A particular injury, weakness, illness, or inexperience may make classes intimidating, too stressful or potentially harmful for a student. The individual may need more personalized attention that can address their specific issues.
For students who attend group classes, a private class is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions about a particular concern or interest. It is a way for the teacher to help the student more fully and for the student to understand more deeply.
Ultimately, private classes are the best way to study Yoga. Yoga is, after all, a very personal journey. Every body is different and every body has different needs. To have one-on-one attention is ideal. See schedules and fees.
Workshops
Workshops are held on either a Saturday or a Sunday and can last between 2 and 3 hours. During that time a topic will be explored through lecture, exercises, questions and movement. Workshops are an excellent opportunity to deepen your own understanding of your body.
You will never be pressured to do more than your body is able and willing. As always you are invited do as little or as much as you like. Linda Lack says, “Watching is learning.”
See Events and Workshops for specific dates, times and topics.
